I expected to find a personal story of discovery and adaptation of the author Azar Nafisi, as he fought his life in a time of great unrest in Iran (the Iranian revolution in 1979). Instead the book on his life as a sweeping events constantly through their inability to anticipate, predict or understand. The only option is to compare with the life and historical events around them in literary metaphor and comparison, firm in Providence after the event rather than aFoundation of knowledge.
