Speaker Biography: John Irving is the author of best-seller "The World According to Garp," "The Hotel New Hampshire, The Cider House Rules" and "A Prayer for Owen Meany," among other novels. Irving's fourth novel, "The World According to Garp" was an international bestseller and then a movie with Robin Williams and Glenn Close. E 'was also a finalist for the American Book Award for fiction hardcover in 1979.Irving wrote the screenplay for the 1999 film adaptation of "The Cider House Rules" and won an Oscar for his work. His recent novels include "The Fourth Hand," published in 2001, 2005's "Until I Find You" and "Last Night in Twisted River" (2009). He lives in New Hampshire and between Ontario, Canada.
