If you're like me it's when the books are published, which appear just as angry echoes of Tolkien. As soon as the film version of The Lord of the Rings was released every man and his dog jumped on the car, take the money from the trees as they passed. The problem is that they are starting to get a bit 'like for my part and I do not mind something different. I read lots of books, and I'm starting to get bored of orcs and trolls and elves. Ido something else. I read 50-60 pounds a year, and I have no doubt that many of you do the same.
Some time ago I was flipping through several books when I came across a book called King and Council. I took it and read the back. E 'was different and unlike any book I've read before. I had never heard of the author. China Miéville. A young writer. The book was great and is very different than any other book. It was not a long book, but supported on the page. Needless to say, After finishing that I went to buy directly from another book from China. Perdido Street Station has been an absolute Bible and one of the best books I have ever read. It is a fantasy book, but unlike any fantasy book I ever read. The city of New Crobuzon is a fantastic invention with strange characters. And I mean that reads it. The characters are strange, but it works somehow in this setting. You can almost smell the pollution.
China Mieville has described his work as a strange> Fiction and do not hide the fact that he likes to be different. He has said in interviews that there are too many books with orcs and goblins. The market is saturated with them.
The market for fiction in my opinion, a change, and will continue his turn to her. Tolkien has opened the door, but sooner or later the fall of water and another character is to raise its head.
Why not a werewolf? Not impossible with the upcoming release of The Wolfman. Enjoyit.
