Forty years ago my uncle gave me an anthology of fiction, tied a thick red that I read from beginning to end. It inspired a lifelong love of the genre. The stories in this book made me think outside the box. I was filled with wonder at the imagination took to write and sometimes for fear of hell out of me. The book remained in my collection for many years. It finally disappeared, but not from my memory. Recently I had the desire to read it again andThanks Alibris.com I could buy a used copy.
The title is Omnibus of Science Fiction, edited by Groff Conklin, editor of a popular genre and productive. It 'was released in 1952, the golden age of science fiction. It' s a Volume, 562 pages, 43 stories in the sections relating to a common theme shared. Some stories are funny, some are challenging and some are adventurous. I love you all.
Part I. wonders of the Earthand man
Katherine MacLean's "and be merry" was originally published in Astounding Science Fiction in February 1950. When her husband takes away a trip archeology, a biologist ago regeneration experiments on himself. Think they are immortal, if they can avoid the accidental death, is afraid to live. Her husband, she must recognize who is dying to get them to make them live again, and he says it's been slow tumor growth that isunusable.

Part II, inventions, dangerous and contrary
The charming short story "A Subway Named Mobius" by AJ English was published in the magazine AstoundingSF in December 1950. The Boston Metropolitan Authority is building an addition to the subway system and a train that disappears with three hundred passengers. The system is locked on to each other and the complex turned into a Moebius strip, known loop with one side made famous by MC Escher.

In "The Colour Out of Space" by HP Lovecraft, surveyors discovered an abandoned farm with an old fountain in the middle. The country is without life, and asks for the name - the damn heath. An old hermit tells him the story. In 1880, the courtyard, raised a meteorite indescribable color production near the well.After hearing the terrible circumstances in which a farmer and his family happened to the surveyor ends with the words not coming back, and not recommended to drink water.
